I love Wes Anderson!

| PermalinkTonight I finally watched a film that I've meant to see for many years now, but just never got around to it--Rushmore, by Wes Anderson. Being a fan of his work (with the Wilson Bros), I have to say that this one goes down as my favorite. I mean, I'll be the first to admit that his films are an acquired taste--and one that most people don't seem to have the taste for. But this one struck me as having an inner beauty that his other films (I still need to go back to Bottle Rocket) lacked. Anyway, if you're a fan of films such as The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tennenbaums, you should DEFINITELY check this one out.
Not much else happening otherwise. Tomorrow I'm back on the diet and greatly reducing my caloric intake. The holidays and winter blues have not been good for me, so now it's time to make a change! Under 2 weeks until the big '32'.....some have suggested that I celebrate for 32 days this year since '31 for the 31st' was such a big hit last year!! I'm thinking this could turn into a great tradition that'll end up with my partying until May/June someday! Not sure if the 'ole liver could take that one!?!?!?!
My new toy!!

| PermalinkWell, technically.....it's not mine. But it is my new work computer that will replace 3 computers at the office! I'm so excited to finally have an Intel Mac so that I can now run Windows AND OS X (and Linux if I choose) on the same computer. Anymore, I'm having to split my time between the PC and the Mac, it's just a blessing to have that all on the same computer now.

Here's the new 15" MacBook Pro next to my own 12" Powerbook!! (you can barely see the often-used PS2 in the back behind the Pbook)
So yeah, things are busy busy. Had a cold off and on this week. The weather has been total shite, but is looking up for next week to get back up into the upper 40's! It'll be time to get my ass outside again!! Well, another weekend of chillin, rockin out to Guitar Hero and some tuba playing ahead...hope you have a good one wherever you are.
I've sold my soul.....

| PermalinkYep. I've done it. Sold my soul for a cheap, plastic thrill.......

That's me rockin' it out on the greatest video game of all time.....GUITAR HERO!!!!! And as if having one game wasn't enough:

I had to have them both!
Now, if they could only come up with Tuba Hero....
SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!

| PermalinkFinally!! Finally we get some snow up in here!! It's taken forever for us to get more than a dusting or a random scattering of flakes in the air. Tonight we actually got our first bit of accumulation and I couldn't be happier! Plus, it's actually above ZERO degrees right now, so I'm doubly pleased.
Nothing really big to say other than WE GOT SNOW!

Me happy....
Return of the Internet....

| PermalinkSo yesterday afternoon I started freaking out because I was w/o my most important form of communication and entertainment--the Internet?!? ARGH! I mean, I could still chat to friends and coworkers on IM, but NO email and NO webpages! Well, after about 24 hours of limited connection to the outside world, I decided to do a little troubleshooting by restarting the router (after I was unable to connect to it and get the webstats). VOILA!!! Everything is now back to normal as I type this post.....all is good again in the world.
So not much is happening here this weekend. I decided to take the day off and get some rest, so lots of time was spent on the couch watching some new movies and reading up on some open source applications that might prove handy when I get my new MacBook Pro in a few weeks. It's gonna be nice to have ONE computer that's a Mac AND a PC....and maybe Linux?! Who knows!?
Dave just got home from his audition in Minnesota and it sounds like it went well for him there. I'm really proud of him and I know there are big things still in his future. It takes a lot of courage to live this life--courage and dedication.
Well, time for shuteye so that I can get up tomorrow and hopefully spend some time on the horns before the Superbowl......g'nite....
